Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid: Thoughts

There is a sense of inevitability around the fact that Conor Gallagher is going to depart Chelsea. Whether by choice or force, it feels more and more a matter of when and not if. Gallagher, the Chelsea boy is going to be sold. And through this post, I try to articulate my feelings around the prospective transfer of Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid.  I start by saying that in over a decade and a half of supporting Chelsea, nothing gives me as much joy as seeing us lift trophies. That feeling of euphoria with each trophy lift is simply unmatched. The culmination of pulsating moments of joy, despair and hope and expectation. Lacking these past two years, so close this February and yet far. But something else that gives me and I'm sure a lot of other Chelsea fans joy is to watch an academy graduate making their debut.  And in this case, excel. Conor Gallagher simply didn't just make his debut but he went on to represent his club in the Premier League 72 times. We are talki...

Victor Osimhen to Chelsea: Potential Impact and Implications

The recent meal being cooked by the Chelsea rumour mill has seen the return of Victor Osimhen to the menu. In a tweet, the ever reliable Fabrizio Romano mentioned the willingness of Napoli to engage in discussions with Chelsea over a deal which would see Romelu Lukaku head the other way.  Furthermore, David Ornstein has mentioned the possibility of Chelsea bringing in Osimhen on loan. Through this blog post, I will attempt to breakdown the impact Osimhen might have on Chelsea.  Osimhen: Career Stats and Performance Standing at six feet one, Osimhen is a tall, lanky figure perfect to spearhead any good attack. He started 25 games in the league this season, scoring 15 and assisting a further 3 while his 6 Champions League appearances produced a return of 2 goals. The Nigerian boasts a career tally of 90 goals in a 174 club  appearances with only 8 coming from the spot.  While Osimhen caught the eye of clubs at Lille, it was in Naples that he cemented his position as on...

Chalobah deserves better!

Sitting at the pinnacle of helplessness, realising and watching as something you know that should not have happened is happening and you are powerless against it. Some might think it an exaggeration but not me, that's just how highly I rate Trevoh Chalobah. I do genuinely believe that Trevoh Chalobah is our second best defender behind Colwill, maybe even better than Colwill. Proud in a way that both are from Cobham and that both are our own. But this also sheds light on the influx of "fans" who are more driven by social media validation rather than what it means to support a club. The fact that they judge a player of the quality of Chalobah not based on his footballing ability but how he looks. The word "aesthetics" and its related terms have poisoned the young minds into seeing football through a narrow tunnel.  Maybe he does not fit into the stereotypical mould of a centre half. Maybe he does not have the "vibes" or "aura" that you need in...

Breakdown: Filip Jorgenson to Chelsea

When the news broke that Dorde Petrovic was going to be sold by Chelsea, there was surprise among the fanbase including myself. But my surprise was more limited to a raised eyebrow because I had accepted the fact that the club was going to be run in ways I could never imagine nor really accept. So, I willingly cling onto this car that is my beloved football club, knowing the brake is wobbly and hoping it takes me back to the better days.  Of course, the Serbian had managed to make the number one spot his own, partly due to Robert Sanchez getting injured and partly due to being a slightly better shot-stopper. Which probably also explains why he is getting sold. A profitable asset in an era where a players attractiveness is based on how much money they can fetch. Bad time to be attractive, I would say.  And so, who is the chosen one? The one deemed to be a worthy successor of an average goalkeeper? Enter Filip Jorgenson of Denmark who plays for Villareal. Standing at six feet th...
